Last weekend, my fiancé and I went on a little weekend getaway to my favourite city and second home: our capital, Wellington, New Zealand. We stayed two and a half days, which while short was plenty of time for us to see an incredible exhibition, eat delicious food, rest and recharge, and simply enjoy each other’s company. The purpose of our trip was to see the Terracotta Warriors at Te Papa Museum and celebrate my fiancé’s birthday. Happy Birthday, my love!
This weekend, I took my love to my favourite Italian restaurant – Baduzzi. It must have been my fourth visit, but the handmade meatballs & pasta were still the same – absolutely delicious.
What I love about Baduzzi is that it is such a warm, cosy restaurant, that oozes elegance and sophistication. We sat in the covered courtyard outside, enjoying the sunshine and greenery without the cold & wind, and enjoyed some truly amazing cuisine. My highlights were the hapuka bolognese with crayfish broth, braised lamb meatballs, and Italian rosé from Sicily. My partner chose the wood-fired flat iron steak tagliata with creamed potato and rocket, and for dessert, we shared the tiramisu which was the perfect combination of sweet & creamy, bitter & crunchy.
We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch date, and I’m thrilled to have re-visited the best Italian restaurant in Auckland. If you’re looking for delicious, authentic Italian food, I’d highly recommend Baduzzi!
